![]() ![]() I experience the same warping regardless of having 3jFPS on/off Video of the Zibo 737 with Threaded Optimization ON and ASW ON for comparison: Īll videos taken using an Oculus Rift and OTT 0.85.1 Video of Threaded Optimization OFF with ASW ON: Video of Threaded Optimization ON with ASW ON: Video of Threaded Optimization OFF with ASW OFF: Video of Threaded Optimization ON with ASW OFF: With threaded Optimization off, yes my TBM/Sim is buttery smooth (in less demanding areas) but I take that hit and reduction in FPS when flying into more complex areas that are normally alleviated by having Threaded Optimization on. Well why not simply have Threaded Optimization turned off when flying the TBM? Well the increase in performance by having it on means I can hit that 95% of situations whereby I can maintain the 45fps for VR. The TBM? I get this sort of pulsing and slight jumping non-fluid movement. This is now where I hit the problem, every other aircraft I have from the Flight Factor 767, Zibo 737, Aerobask aircraft all run like button in VR. I know it's not a huge jump but when we're talking VR and only needing 45, every one counts when you put all that excess load on X-Plane/your system. I have included two additional images of the frame rate difference, one with Threaded Optimization on and one with it off. An example of what I'm trying to achieve is to maintain 45FPS into complex airports, flying into regions such as ORBX's full terrain UK with the TBM in stormy weather. Unfortunately I've been really struggling with an issue around threaded optimization (If you are unclear about what I am talking about, I have added a screenshot from the Nvidia control panel below).įor my system, having Threaded Optimization ON helps and gives me a boost in FPS across the board allowing me (with the joint effort of 3jfps) to maintain a constant 45fps in 95% of situations. As an avid X-Plane VR pilot, the TBM is one of my absolute go-to aircraft when I don't want to fly a tube. You can see from my signature that my PC is no slouch and I am one of those "tinkerers" that love going through all the possible combinations to try and achieve the perfect result. This took me about a day to do, with lots of errors along the way.I wanted to share some thoughts and experiences I've noticed trying to lock down my settings to achieve a constant 45fps in VR with a smooth as possible flight experience. As mentioned on the OTG site, I found the best info on setting up Process Lasso (I use the free version) and CPU/GPU overclocking below. Take your time, as its easy to overheat them, potentially causing permanent damage to your pricey hardware. ![]() #3: Run Process Lasso and Use Overclock both your CPU and GPU, but use caution. I’ve updated my system specs on this page. I have not yet tested in VR, as I wanted to get the system solid first. Currently running at the settings with amazing frame rates. I was really hogging up some graphic bandwidth. Since I’m running five screens, three for the main monitor outputs, and two for instruments. You can certainly limit your graphic settings to speed up your system, but this diminishes the quality level that X-Plane offers. They are currently listing on Ebay and Craigslist at over $1200, which is annoying. There are limited supplies, so don’t wait when you get the email. Just sign up and be the first to purchase when the become available, which is happening more and more often. They list at $699 on the nVidia store, forget what you see anywhere else. #2: Invest in a better Graphics Card, preferably a 1080TI. I am frustrated that I didn’t do this previously. ![]() Not only does my Windows 10 system start up almost instantly, X-Plane not only loads so much faster than with the old mechanical 7200RPM drive, but I am running from 5-10 FPS better than before, even when running all my plug-ins and Ortho4XP Scenery! Game changer. #1: Only run X-Plane from a very fast SSD. I’m mostly getting a minimum of 30FPS now. I have a few simple tips to make your X-Plane system run faster. I have gone through about 10 different tutorials on Youtube and blogs about how to increase my frame rate and finally found a solid fix. Since the newer betas, I have been getting slower and slower framerates and it’s been very frustrating, as I used to get 28-32 FPS. Lately I had been getting no higher than 22-24FPS. I have spent the past few months on and off struggling with my frame rate in X-Plane. ![]()
